Sit for a unique photographic portrait with Jo Gane
‘In the forest of Arden’
A unique portrait photograph made in camera with wet plate collodion.
Come dressed in your finest outfit while visiting ‘In the Forest of Arden’ exhibition and sit for a unique, period style photographic portrait by Jo Gane. No digital trickery here!… Jo uses a period camera, congruent photographic materials and painted backdrops to make portraits that are a one-off experience and a family heirloom. Each portrait takes around 30 minutes to make, from coating the plate, posing for the camera (approx. 3-10 second exposure) developing and varnishing. (The tin-type process, also known as ‘wet plate collodion’ was commonly used by itinerant photographers in the UK and during the American civil war era from 1851- 1870).
Add to your family album with an authentic, antique ‘tin-type’ collodion photograph using a traditional process in silver, dating from 1851.
Pop up studio on ground floor at rear of gallery, fully accessible.
